Delo’s Person of the Year 2020

22. 12. 2020

Voting begins today (21 December) for Delo’s Person of the Year 2020. This year there are twelve outstanding nominees for this prestigious title (or rather thirteen, with two of them sharing a joint nomination), instead of the usual ten. They are individuals who have led us during the uncertain times of the pandemic and proved that even when times are hard it is possible, through goodwill and perseverance, to achieve the impossible.

We are happy and proud that this year’s nominees include our general and artistic director Darko Brlek, under whose leadership, in a year in which numerous festivals have been cancelled, we succeeded in filling the summer with performances by top Slovene and foreign artists, on almost the same scale as originally planned.

Through its various projects, Festival Ljubljana hosts around 4,000 performers from at least 50 countries every year. It is a member of the European Festivals Association, a prestigious international organisation headquartered in Ghent in Belgium, which for more than 65 years has brought together up to 200 festivals, national festival associations and cultural networks from more than 45 countries. Festival Ljubljana has been an EFA member since 1977. Darko Brlek served as EFA president from 2005 to 2017 and is today an honorary member of the association.
