The 4th Days of Slovene Musicology, which are organised by the Slovenian Musicological Society will take place today, 16th November and tomorrow, 17th November. The title of this year’s symposium is In Search of Perfect Harmony: Giuseppe Tartini’s Music and Music Theory in Local and European Contexts. Because of the current situation the entire programme will be held online.
In the morning there was a lecture Questions about Tartini, His Music and His Character by Sergei Durantei and the second lecture, Bach, Tartini, and their Network by Pierpaolo Polzonetti, will be at 4.30 pm. At 8.00 pm a concert Tartini’s Music Throughout Europe: Naples – Venice – London – Osnabrück – Amsterdam – Copenhagen – Uppsala will take place, which will be played as part of the Harmonia concertans – Old Music Cycle by Musica Cubicularis Ensemble. We are going to listen to two rarely performed concerts for flute, two triosonatas and a solistic sonata from the manuscripts and prints from Italy, England, Netherlands, Danemark and Sweden.
Tomorrow, 17th November, at 4.00 pm a round table In Search of Perfect Harmony in Musical Thought: Tartini’s Theory and Beyond will be streamed on the Facebook page of the Slovenian Musicological Society and at 8.00 pm there will be a special radio programme on Radio Prvi – Slovenia in song and lyrics: The Fringes of Tradition.
Due to international participation the symposium will be held in English and will be available on the Society’s Facebook page or via conference system Zoom.
