The online ceremony to confer the honorary titles of Congress Ambassador of Slovenia 2021 took place on Wednesday, 17 November. The Slovenian Ambassador Programme committee named 17 winners of this year’s title, covering the fields of professional events, business, sports and the “Rising Star” categories. One of the winners of the honorary title ofCongress Ambassador of Slovenia for the fields of professional events is the general and art director of Festival Ljubljana, Darko Brlek.

The Slovenian Ambassador Programme committee chose Darko Brlek following his proposal by destination club Ljubljana for his organisation of the 66th General Assembly of the European Festivals Association (Arts Festivals Summit 2018), which was hosted by Festival Ljubljana in 2018. The competitors in the nominations included professional events and congresses which took place between 2018 and 2020, and in which at least half the participants came from abroad. Congresses of associations which are of exceptional international importance and which place Slovenia on the map of attractive and promising destinations had an advantage.
