Important information
The Moscow Soloists are a chamber orchestra founded by Yuri Bashmet, one of the greatest viola players working today. This charismatic and controversial violist and conductor, who has won a string of national and international awards and honours, is considered by many to be a living legend. A bold and talented musician, he has long followed his inner impulses. He founded the Moscow Soloists in 1992, recruiting the most promising graduates of the Moscow Conservatory. The orchestra gave its debut concert in the famous Great Hall of the Conservatory and that same year dazzled the audience at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Today there is practically no prestigious concert hall in the world where the Moscow Soloists have not played. They even performed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. A repertoire of more than 350 works allows the Grammy Award winning Moscow Soloists remarkable flexibility. They have recorded for important radio stations such as the BBC, Bayerische Rundfunk, Radio France and Radio Luxembourg. The Moscow Soloists and Yuri Bashmet will this time be accompanied by French master accordionist Richard Galliano, who has an unerring knack for blurring the boundaries of musical genres and creating a unique magic that is simultaneously seductive and enchanting.
