The name Dmitry Sitkovetsky is closely associated with Bach’s famous Goldberg Variations, which Sitkovetsky transcribed for string trio and string orchestra. His arrangements are performed frequently and excellent recordings have been made of them by some of the world’s most renowned musicians. Encouraged by this success, he has transcribed more than 50 other works by masters such as Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Bartók, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Stravinsky and Schnittke.
