The Belgrade-born pianist Aleksandar Madžar began his musical education with Gordana Malinović and continued it with Arbo Valdma, Ėliso Virsaladze and Daniel Blumenthal. He has won several prizes at international piano competitions (including the Geneva, Leeds, Ferruccio Busoni and Umberto Micheli competitions). He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1990. He has worked with numerous famous musical names, among them André Previn, Marcello Viotti, Paavo Järvi and Andris Nelsons, and gives regular concerts throughout Europe. His career has also taken him to North and South America, South Africa, Australia and the Far East, while conductor Zubin Mehta personally chose him to be the soloist at the concert marking the 60th anniversary of his first appearance with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Aleksandar Madžar teaches at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and gives regular masterclasses.
