World premiere on the Main Stage of SNT Drama Ljubljana
SNT Drama Ljubljana has announced the world premiere of the stage adaptation of The Fig Tree by Goran Vojnović. The novel has been dramatised by Simona Hamer and adapted for the stage by the director Luka Martin Škof and the cast. The premiere will be streamed live from SNT Drama Ljubljana’s Main Stage at 8.00 p.m. on Saturday, 13 March, via the website drama.kupikarto.si/vzivo. The performance will be repeated on 16 and 17 March. The live performance on 17 March will be followed by a discussion with the creators of The Fig Tree on the online platform Zoom.
The Fig Tree, the third in a series of highly acclaimed and award-winning novels by Goran Vojnović, covers a wide range of topics that offer a complex insight into the historical and social circumstances of the life of several generations of a family living in the culturally and politically volatile Balkans. Following his grandfather’s death, the protagonist Jadran Dizdar feels the need to thoroughly explore his family history and make sense of and re-evaluate his memories.
The cast includes Benjamin Krnetić, Tina Vrbnjak, Pia Zemljič, Uroš Fürst, Janez Škof, Maja Sever, Boris Mihalj, Saša Mihelčič, Petra Govc, Vojko Zidar, Valter Dragan and Zvezdana Mlakar,while the roles in the video recording incorporated in the performance are played by Saša Tabaković, Sabina Kogovšek, Eva Jesenovec, Vid Kozelj and Veronika Drolc.
