St John Passion in Ljubljana, 14 April 2017
Dear fellow Ambassadors!
Allow me to begin by sending you my warmest greetings and let me take this opportunity to invite you personally to a gala performance of Bach’s St John Passion at the Union Hall in Ljubljana on 14 April 2017, which is also Good Friday. The work will be performed by Vienna’s acclaimed WISE Consort (Wien International Soloists Ensemble), the Arnold Schoenberg Choir from Vienna and international soloists based in Vienna. Among the latter is a Slovene, David Jagodic, who will sing the solo role of the Evangelist. David Jagodic is a full-time student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he is currently completing a master’s degree in opera singing. The performance will be directed by the world-famous conductor Erwin Ortner. The date of the event has been carefully chosen: the first performance of the St John Passion at the Church of St Nicholas in Leipzig – 293 years ago – also took place on Good Friday.
In order to promote this concert I invite you, as Ambassadors of Culture in Slovenia, to join me at the event and to spread the word about it among supporters of culture.
