Latvian singer Kristīne Opolais is currently one of the most sought-after sopranos on the international scene. After completing her studies at the Latvian Academy of Music at the age of 21, she began her career in the chorus of the Latvian National Opera. She has worked with many acclaimed conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Kirill Petrenko, Sir Simon Rattle, and Sir Antonio Pappano and performed at all the world’s major opera houses, including multiple appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where her recent portrayal of the title role in Dvořák’s Rusalka was described by the New York Times as a „vocally lustrous and achingly vulnerable performance”. She also made Metropolitan Opera history when, a mere 18 hours after debuting as Madama Butterfly, she stepped in to sing the role of Mimi in a matinee performance of La Bohème that was broadcast around the world as part of the Met’s Live in HD series. She will be accompanied at her Ljubljana concert of opera arias by the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra under the rising Italian conductor
Sesto Quatrini, of whom she says: „Maestro Quatrini shows his passion and love for opera, particularly for singers, whenever he is on the podium.”
