The Italian Serenade is one of the few purely instrumental works by Hugo Wolf, born in Slovenj Gradec in present-day Slovenia and better known for his remarkable lieder. The programme also includes another great musician born in present-day Slovenia: the violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in Piran. In a programme in which the Italian tradition predominates, the Slovenian Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra, which usually performs without a conductor, will be directed by the Italian maestro Pier Carlo Orizio. The soloist in the trumpet concerto is Spanish virtuoso Vicente Campos.
