The uniqueness of the Elysée Quartet lies in the confrontation and assimilation of the two different traditions from which its members are drawn: the French and Russian schools. These mutually enriching traditions enable a blending of different ideas, the development of new dimensions in the interpretation of music, and a strength of expression which has great originality. This evening’s programme likewise features works by French and Russian composers. For the piano quintet, the Quartet is joined by the acclaimed Bulgarian pianist Ludmil Angelov.
