The Slovene Octet is a male Slovenian vocal ensemble, which has been performing a very broad and diverse choir repertoire ever since its first concert. The octet has consolidated its reputation as one of the most representative Slovenian musical ensembles, which devotes particular attention to traditional and classical Slovenian song. Nowadays, it is preserving and even building on this reputation, changing through the years, maturing but still retaining its youth and its essence. In the course of its long and rich tradition, over 40 different singers have made up the octet. All of them felt an exceptional devotion and sense of belonging to the nation whose name they bore. Some of them were leading Slovenian soloists of their generation who performed in large concert and opera venues in Slovenia and abroad, while others enriched the octet’s sound with their traditional style of singing, openness and warmth. The Slovene Octet has always been an example and source of motivation for many ensembles, which were inspired to form by its sublime singing. They will prepare a programme of church music by both Slovenian and foreign composers. The concert will begin with the Ave Maria by German composer Franz Xaver Biebl, which was already in the past a permanent feature in the repertoires of many ensembles.
