Teater TIVOLI is a fresh new cultural institution that created several notable artistic events in 2023. Most notable of all was the play What Happened to Bette Davis and Joan Crawford?,  a co-production with Cankarjev Dom and Mini Teater, it has also been staged this year at Cankarjev Dom with great success and has attracted considerable media attention. Our projects (concerts and exhibitions) have been presented both in Slovenia and further afield (Croatia, Serbia).
In 2024 Teater TIVOLI’s artistic team has joined forces with the Ljubljana Festival. Our first co-production, a staging of Chekhov’s play 3 Sisters Remix will have its premiere performance at Križanke. The project brings together acclaimed artists from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. The production blends theatre and cinematography, enabling insights from close up and from within and addressing the universal questions of time and space posed by Chekhov more than 120 years ago. The same questions that constantly return to the mind of every sensitive individual.
The artistic team – director Ivica Buljan and cast Aleksandra Balmazović, Uroš Fürst, Olga Grad, Jernej Markelj,  Gal Oblak, Saša Pavlin Stošić, Kaja Petrovič, Jožef Ropoša, Joakim Tasić,  Milena Vasić and Lovro Zafred – add a new level to Chekhov’s canonical drama and to that timeless state in which we are all trapped permanently in time and space. A great emphasis of the show is also on the music created by musical virtuosos, Igor Vićentić and Mirko Vičentič Polič, better known as DJ JAMirko.
