For this evening’s programme the Slovene Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra has juxtaposed two works by Telemann with two compositions that were among the first to feature polytonality. This evening’s soloists come from the ranks of the famed Berliner Philharmoniker – which Andrej Žust became the first Slovene musician to join in 2011. Interestingly, both musicians were invited to join important orchestras as solo horn players at the age of just 19. In Stefan Dohr’s case this was the orchestra of the Frankfurt Opera, while for Žust it was the Slovenian Philharmonic. This evening’s concert thus sees Andrej Žust performing with former colleagues – string players from his former orchestra – and a distinguished current colleague – the principal horn player (since 1993) from his current orchestra, Stefan Dohr.
