The two final evenings of the second stage of the Ljubljana Festival International Competition – Brass Quintets and Quartets 2025 are expected to include the six ensembles that acquit themselves best in the first part of the competition. Each will present a new programme in which the focus will continue to be modernist, postmodernist and contemporary works. The judging panel will be chaired by the competition’s artistic director, trombonist Branimir Slokar, who will be joined by the composer Nina Šenk, the permanent principal trumpet of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra Reinhold Friedrich, the classical tuba player and cabaret performer Andreas Martin Hofmeir, and the world-renowned French horn player and teacher Radovan Vlatković. The best ensembles will compete for prize money of up to 20,000 euros and the judging panel will also give awards for the best-placed Slovene ensemble and the best performance of the piece written especially for this competition by Nina Šenk.
