Born in Crans-Montana (Switzerland), Dany Bonvin completed trombone studies with Branimir Slokar at the University of the Arts in Bern. He has won prizes at various international competitions (Vercelli, Toulon) and in 1986 won the Swiss Soloist Prize (AMS Basel). In 1982, at the age of just 17, he became principal trombonist of the Munich Philharmonic. He has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Munich Trombone Quartet and a member of Bob Ross’s Blechschaden (“Fender Bender”) brass ensemble. He is a professor of trombone at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
