Important information
In Križanke Summer Theatre, a special tribute to Slovenian film heritage will take place this year – Cinema Križanke. Over the course of four evenings, we will revisit and celebrate timeless gems of Slovenian cinema that have marked various eras of our film history. These are films that not only tell the stories of their time but also carry the spirit of past decades, continuing to resonate with contemporary audiences. Within the unique atmosphere of the Križanke Summer Theatre, we will journey from the romantic nostalgia of the 1950s to the bold satire of the 1990s. The event will open with the legendary Vesna (1953) by František Čap, a delightful high-school romance whose charm and playfulness still captivate viewers today. It will be followed by Rdeči Boogie or Kaj ti je deklica? (1982) by Karpo Godina – a vibrant portrait of the post-war era, where jazz, politics, and personal dilemmas intertwine in a rich cinematic tapestry. The third evening will feature Babica gre na jug (1991) by Vinci Vogue Anžlovar, a warm and witty tale of a grandmother who escapes from a retirement home to embark on a life-affirming adventure. The cycle concludes with the cult film Jebiga (2000) by Miha Hočevar – a raw, honest and ironic look at the everyday lives of youth in a post-socialist reality. Cinema Križanke offers a unique opportunity to experience the greatest Slovenian film classics on the big screen – in a venue where cinematic artistry and summer evenings come together in an unforgettable experience.
